At Trenton-Mercer Airport, the parking lot is close enough to the terminal that you can leave the suitcase wheels rolling instead of looking for a shuttle. It is a small detail, but it sets the tone for flying out of Ewing.
This is the sort of airport where you can get your bearings quickly, grab something to eat upstairs, and head downstairs for security without trekking across a sprawling terminal. For years, Frontier was the name most travelers associated with flights from Trenton.
Now Allegiant has joined it, and Breeze has begun service too. That gives Central Jersey travelers more chances to find a reasonably priced nonstop flight, especially if Florida is on the calendar.
The trade-off is a more limited schedule than you would find at Newark or Philadelphia. Get the dates and destination right, though, and this little airport can make the beginning of a vacation feel refreshingly simple.
Trenton-Mercer Airport Is Small but Suddenly Has More Ways to Fly

There was a time when checking flights from Trenton-Mercer meant checking Frontier and moving on. The airline had the scheduled commercial service to itself for years, making the airport a useful option for travelers whose plans happened to match its routes.
That has changed. Allegiant began flying from Ewing in February 2026, and Breeze launched service in September.
Three low-cost airlines at an airport this compact give travelers more to compare than they had before. The airport sits at 1100 Terminal Circle Drive in Ewing Township, close to I-295 and convenient for much of Mercer County.
It also gives people in nearby parts of Bucks County and Central Jersey another departure point to consider. You are still choosing from a smaller set of flights than you would at a major airport, but that is part of the appeal for the right trip.
A nonstop from close to home can spare you both a longer drive and a connection. Florida remains the clearest theme in Trenton-Mercer’s growing schedule.
Frontier has long served popular vacation markets, Allegiant added three Florida routes, and Breeze is bringing its own mix of Florida flights and a nonstop to Charleston, South Carolina. The airlines may serve different airports within the same general region, so the destination name deserves a second look.
A flight to Punta Gorda, for example, is a different plan from one landing at Southwest Florida International Airport near Fort Myers. Think of Trenton-Mercer as an airport that rewards a little flexibility.
If you can travel on the days its airlines fly and the arrival airport works for your plans, its modest size becomes a real advantage. If you need several departures a day, its schedule will take more careful planning.
Frontier Put This Ewing Airport on the Budget Travel Map

Frontier’s relationship with Trenton-Mercer began in November 2012. A decade later, the airline was preparing to carry its six-millionth passenger through the airport.
That is a remarkable number for a place where you can still walk from the parking lot to the terminal, and it explains why plenty of local travelers already know the airport code TTN. Frontier gave them a way to skip a drive to a larger airport when the route and price lined up.
Orlando and Tampa are among the Florida destinations associated with Frontier’s Trenton service. The airline has also added routes outside Florida over the years, including service to Myrtle Beach that launched in 2025.
Those options have made the airport useful for more than the classic winter escape, although routes and flight days can change with the season. Check the dates you actually want to travel before building a whole getaway around a destination on an airport map.
Frontier’s low base fares can be tempting, particularly when a short getaway calls for little more than a personal item. The useful comparison, however, is the price of the trip you intend to take.
Add the bags, seats, and other options you want before deciding whether the fare beats an alternative from Newark or Philadelphia. Parking and the drive to the airport belong in that calculation too.
For many Central Jersey travelers, Frontier was the airline that turned Trenton-Mercer from an airport they drove past into one they flew from. The newer carriers are building on that foundation.
Frontier’s long run here shows that a small terminal and low-cost flights can be a lasting combination, even as the particular destinations on offer shift.
Allegiant Adds More Nonstop Options for Florida Getaways

A trip to Florida sounds especially appealing when you can leave from close to home and arrive without changing planes.
Allegiant brought that possibility to more Trenton-Mercer travelers in February 2026, launching nonstops to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Punta Gorda Airport, and St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport.
These are three distinct starting points for a Florida vacation, not interchangeable stops along the same coast. Fort Lauderdale puts travelers in South Florida, while Punta Gorda is an option for a trip centered on Florida’s southwest coast.
St. Pete–Clearwater serves a different stretch of the Gulf Coast. That airport-name detail matters most when you are meeting family, picking up a rental car, or heading straight to accommodations after landing.
Saving money on a flight feels considerably less clever if the airport leaves you with a long drive you did not expect. Allegiant’s arrival also gives travelers a reason to compare airlines on routes to similar regions.
If more than one carrier can get you near your destination, look beyond the fare displayed first. Departure days, baggage charges, arrival airports, and the price of ground transportation can all change which ticket makes the most sense.
A nonstop is convenient, but its timetable still has to work for your trip. The airline advertised introductory one-way fares as low as $49 when it announced the Trenton routes.
Those prices were tied to limited seats and booking dates, so they are a snapshot of the launch rather than a reliable price for a future vacation. The more durable news is that Allegiant gave this little Ewing airport another set of direct connections to Florida, right alongside the service travelers already knew.
Breeze Gives Travelers Another Airline to Watch

Charleston is the route that makes Breeze’s arrival especially interesting. Its nonstop service from Trenton-Mercer began in September 2026, adding a regularly scheduled destination outside Florida to the airport’s low-cost lineup.
For a long weekend in South Carolina, that is a welcome change of scenery on the departure board. Breeze also began a one-stop service to Fort Lauderdale on which passengers stay on the same aircraft.
That distinction is worth spelling out: the Fort Lauderdale flight is convenient for some travelers, but it is not nonstop. More Breeze flights are scheduled to follow.
Nonstop service to Vero Beach, Florida, is set to begin September 30, 2026, and nonstop service to Fort Myers is scheduled for January 8, 2027. The Vero Beach flight is initially scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays before changing to Thursdays and Sundays in January.
Anyone planning around a particular weekday should check the schedule for the month of their trip rather than assume it stays the same year-round. Breeze’s arrival makes Trenton-Mercer more useful for travelers willing to let the flight options help shape the getaway.
Charleston offers a city break with food and history at the other end; Vero Beach and Fort Myers open up different parts of Florida. A couple with flexible dates might see an appealing fare and build a trip around it.
A family tied to school vacation dates will need to see whether those twice-weekly services fit. The new routes do not turn TTN into a sprawling hub overnight.
They do make the departure board more interesting. Breeze joins Frontier and Allegiant at an airport where each additional destination has an outsized effect on the choices available to nearby travelers.
Short Walks and Affordable Parking Make the Airport Easier to Use

Pull into one of Trenton-Mercer’s main parking lots and the terminal is a short walk away. The airport lists daily parking at $10 in its Tuskegee Airmen and Amelia Earhart lots and $9 in the Wright Brothers lot.
Short-term parking is listed at $2 an hour for up to four hours. For someone leaving a car during a quick Florida trip, that makes the ground side of the journey easy to understand before the suitcase is even packed.
Check the current rate when planning, since parking prices can change. The small terminal has its own rhythm.
Sky Lounge, the airport restaurant and bar, is on the third floor before security and is open to visitors as well as ticketed passengers. There is also a smaller concession area past security for snacks and drinks.
You will not find a row of shops to browse, so this is a good place to bring the book or headphones you want for the flight. Travelers who would rather leave the car at home have other options, though they take planning.
NJ Transit bus service connects the airport with the West Trenton and Hamilton train stations and the Trenton Transit Center. Rental cars are available at the airport, and taxis serve nearby rail stations.
Check the bus timetable against your flight, especially if you are arriving late or leaving early. The short walk is one of Trenton-Mercer’s best features, but it is not a reason to cut arrival time too fine.
Security and bag check still take time, and the airport advises passengers to arrive two hours before departure. The pleasure here is having fewer distances to cover once you arrive, with the gate, a snack, and the flight all within a manageable little terminal.
What to Know Before Booking a Flight From Trenton-Mercer

Start with the arrival airport, not just the city or region in the fare search. Allegiant’s Punta Gorda flight and Breeze’s planned Fort Myers flight serve different airports in southwest Florida.
Likewise, Allegiant’s St. Pete–Clearwater route is a separate choice from a flight into Tampa. Check the distance to your hotel or the people you are visiting before a low fare settles the decision for you.
Next, check the flight days in both directions. A route that runs only a couple of days a week can be excellent for a long weekend that fits the schedule and awkward for a trip with fixed dates.
Note whether the flight is nonstop or, in the case of Breeze’s Fort Lauderdale service, makes a stop without a plane change. Compare the full fare after selecting the baggage and seats your group needs.
The cheapest ticket on the first screen may not be the cheapest workable trip. Once the ticket is booked, a few small-airport details help the day go smoothly.
The terminal is at 1100 Terminal Circle Drive in Ewing. The airport advises arriving two hours before departure.
Boarding currently takes place on an outdoor ramp rather than through a covered jet bridge, so keep the weather in mind when choosing what to wear.
Adult travelers using a state-issued ID for a domestic flight need one that meets REAL ID requirements, or another accepted form of identification such as a passport.
Trenton-Mercer works best when its schedule fits the trip you already want to take. On those days, the little conveniences add up: a nearby parking space, a terminal you can learn in minutes, and a flight that gets you where you meant to go.
